Pommerit le Vicomte is a rural commune with a population of 1,856 inhabitants. It is a very flowery commune since it has been awarded 2 flowers each year by the jury. The commune is very wooded, the valley of the Trieux is particularly welcoming, the mills have been renovated, fishermen can indulge their passion. In the center of the village, the church Notre-Dame has kept its bell tower, registered as a historical monument, of 34m of the XVIIIth century where one can read a curious inscription written backwards “this tower was made by an Irishman in 1712”. Beautiful 17th century confessionals, 15th century alabasters and ancient statues of St. Michael and St. Anthony catch the eye upon entering the church. A superb 1700 year old yew tree adorns the church grounds as well as an original 15th century pulpit.
